Botanical garden

Hi,

 

We are looking at going to the botanical gardens on our own, then having a little nosy around the town and walk back to the ship. How easy is it to get to the gardens and back to the town. We are on Emerald Princess and have seen online that the larger ships are docking further from the town so just wondering so just wondering how easy it is to walk back to the ship.

Taxi to the gardens from port takes about 30/35 minutes - Plenty of taxis for return.

It all depends on the cruise terminal, there are two.  One is almost in the town, you’ll see it from the ship, being a 5/6 minute walk, while the other is about 20/25 minutes walk away along a busy main road.  There are taxis available.

Fort de France is a working French Port/Town, not a traditional Caribbean island market town. Think Calais, Le Havre etc..

The main shopping area is along and around Rue Victor Hugo with shops and supermarkets.
