I have used the temporary shower grab bars (Amazon) and they have become part of my "cruise suitcase"!  They really help me with balance issues especially when the ship is rocking and rolling.  The other tip that I have is that I put down a hand towel on the shower floor to help avoid slipping.  It really seems to help.

Good to hear.  Thank you and everyone for your comments.  I plan on getting the temporary grab bars.

In my previous house the guest-room shower-in-a-tub was tiled and did not have safety bars. I bought a locking suction-cup bar. The instructions specified that they needed to be repositioned (re-locked) EACH TIME they were used. Since that didn't meet our needs (having an unsteady person leaning across the tub to release and lock the cups!) we got a bar that locked over the edge of the tub.

This shouldn’t be a problem. AFAIK all the bathrooms I’ve seen have grab bars by the toilet and one in the shower. They work well for when the ship is rolling whether you have any special needs or not. I grabbed a couple pics to show them randomly.

I believe that as the ships go into dry dock, new shower bars are being installed in the shower.  I was on the Breeze in October and after 36 cruises, this was the first time I saw a grab bar in the actual shower!  This was the first time I have not had to use my own grab bar.  I still use the hand towel on the floor trick because sometimes those floors can get slippery.  I do have some mobility/balance issues (not bad enough to have to get a handicap cabin) and the last thing I want to do is fall in the shower.  I'm on a cruise!!  I don't have time for that!!!  LOL!
