Salerno to Positano

We have started researching Salerno port of call for next year's cruise in June.  We've toured the Amalfi coast in the past and will likely spend our time in Positano (again).  Checking the Naples Bay Ferry.com site, there are (high speed) ferries from Salerno to Positano which is approx. 1 hour 15 mins ride each way.  Rather than travel the winding and crowded roads of the coast, taking a ferry may be the best way to optimize our time in Positano.

Would appreciate hearing if anyone has had experience with travelling by ferry  e.g., were they on time, etc.   Believe ferries depart from Piazza Concordia in Salerno which we understand is about 4 km from where ships dock - not sure if the ship will provide shuttle or, does anyone know if the port authority provides a shuttle?  Return trip Positano to Salerno has less frequent ferries and as of today the trip states 'via Amalfi' with duration of 1 hour 10 mins - assume this means the ferry stops in Amalfi enroute to Salerno?

I have only taken it from Amalfi to Positano.

Yes, they run on time.

Some departure times have more stops than others.

You may have to wait until a couple of months before your trip to get the summer schedule.  There is no problem booking tickets for whichever times you want.

Can't help you with the Salerno questions.

Please don't use the site you did, it's just a reseller and the information isn't always as up to date as it should be.  Also, they add fees if you purchase through them, buy directly from the ferry companies if you feel you must purchase in advance.

There are two ferry docks in Salerno, the one nearest to the cruise port is Molo Manfredi, the other is near the train station and is called Concordia.  Most of the ferries that go along the coast use Concordia but there are a few that use Manfredi.

You can see this year's Travelmar schedule here:  Orari traghetti Travelmar - Traghetti veloci in Costiera Amalfitana

NLG also offers service on this route, but I think they are done for the season now.  Their web site is here:  NLG » Official website (navlib.it)

If you need/want to use Concordia, the walk between there and the cruise port is about 2.5km/1.5 miles.

We didn't realize this site was a reseller and appreciate you advising us.  Our cruise is not until June next year but wanted to start our research. Expect June is busy so do you suggest booking online or wait till we  arrive in Salerno?

The new schedules will be available in April.  I would only bother booking in advance for ferries from Molo Manfredi, since there aren't very many of them.

You'll have more choices for times from Corcondia, you might consider using it for at least one direction.  It's a pretty walk along the waterfront.

Thanks again euro cruiser and will be checking the sites you provided in April.
