I am booked on Beyond next September for my first Celebrity cruise with my husband.

I am RCCL Diamond and he is Emerald status although I think they will link our C&A numbers to give him Diamond as well?

I know Diamond equates to Elite on Celebrity but the website states not applicable to Preview Captains Club status…does this mean that as it’s our first cruise we aren’t eligible for any benefits?

I’m a bit confused by it all although Its no big deal really….still looking forward to sailing Celebrity!

Make sure your husband gets his tier level corrected. He should already be diamond if you two are married. You will both be elite with all the perks/benefits on your first Celebrity cruise.

Someone mentioned a "genie" reserving show seating on RCI. Rows of prime seating are set aside for suites every evening show in the theater on X.

RC also ahs a reserved section in the theater and studio B (for those ships with a studio B) for D+ and Pinnacle. We never sit it the reserved section in the theater. Don't care for the location of the seats. We do sit in the reserved section in studio B for the ice shows.

Not sure what “not applicable to Preview Captains Club status” means but I got Elite benefits on my very first Celebrity cruise. I was Elite with 0 points thanks to the status match.

Exactly how it works. It also would work the same going from Celebrity (elite, elite +, zenith) to RC (diamond). Cruise points between the two do not transfer over.

I've looked around and found some info here, just wondering if anyone having experience on both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity could easily answer a couple quick questions.  We're experienced RCCL cruisers at Diamond level, cruised once on Millennium a long time ago in the old "cabin has a window" days.  So what is the comparison level on Celebrity for:

RCCL Diamond = Celebrity ????

RCCL Diamond Benefits = Celebrity ???

A Junior Suite on RCCL = Celebrity ???

A Grand Suite on RCCL = Celebrity ???

RCCL Suite Benefits  = Celebrity ???

Not looking for anything in depth, not looking for reviews, just to help get a feel for Celebrity scales of cabins & service.

THANK YOU

-Bob

If you are going to book a suite on X the Elite benefits are virtually Zero as the suite prices include Internet, drinks and grats. You will have access to the Elite breakfast in Tuscan which we love and one bag of laundry wash and fold each  (upto 30 items) 2 items of dry cleaning 2 of pressing.

I have done 7 or 8 Celebrity cruises and was elite since first cruise because of rccl status and never used one elite perk since we book suites.

I have just been away with my friend and had a balcony cabin , friend was in her own cabin so the double points moved me up nicely into Diamond status.

Got it. Your husband will be diamond (contact the CAS to make sure, 1-800-526-9723) by default. Your cruise points with CAS will remain different. When you sail with Celebrity you'll both be elite wit zero CC points.

It is not the same thing. On RCCL, only the very top suites on the newest ships (the Star Class Suites) get Genie service and no ship has more that 11 Star Class Suites. Genies will reserve any seat that the Star Class cruisers ask for (such as front row center) and they are reserved in advance for the particular person who requested them. They are not in a block shared with other suite guests, they are not released 10 minutes before showtime like they are on X, and they are available not just in the main theater but also in several other entertainment venues like the ice show and the Aqua Theater. Usually, the Genie escorts the Star Class guest to his or her reserved seat.

RCCL does everything possible to spoil the few Star Class guests, who make up only a tiny percentage of the guests on those immense new RCCL ships.  It is like flying long haul first class on one of those Lufthansa planes that have only eight seats in first class (but without the caviar). Even true luxury ships rarely match that level of exclusivity (although they offer much better food) and Star Class suites are priced accordingly, sometimes as high as $60K for a one week cruise where the least expensive cabins cost less that $1K.

We alternate between Celebrity retreat and NCL Haven ( ship within the ship). NCL has great entertainment , still has Broadway shows like Jersey Boys and Million Dollar Quartet great comedy and some ships have the Cavern Club ( Beatles). Food in the Haven restaurant is as good as Luminae and the sundeck 16 and above gives at least a little adult time. The rest of the ship is like RCCL ( we were Diamond and when we switched to Celebrity and they made us Elite). The last few RCCL ships we sailed on were The Harmony in Europe and the Symphony in the Caribbean with family. Both beautiful ships. The Anthem out of New York was filthy and a terrible experience so now if we want to winter cruise out of New York it’s NCL all the way.
