Questions about bidding for an upgrade

Our family is going on Navigator of the Seas over Christmas.  There are 8 of us in 4 cabins.  Cabins are all interior promenade.  One of the cabins received an email offering the opportunity to bid for an upgrade.  The others did not.  Any idea why the offer would be made to only one and not the others?  Also, if a bid is made for an upgrade, how soon do you find out if your bid is accepted?  Is it soon after the bid is made, or is it a day or two before the cruise?  For those that have experience with the bidding process, do you normally have to bid quite a bit above the minimum bid for it to be accepted?

If you didnpt get the email you can check the link anyway.

Sometimes minimum is enough on a lower category. Suites seem to go high.

Some dont find out until the day they board. They immediately take the money and will send a email. Could be before but usually not much before. Probably anyone can bid. Remember whatever you bid is x 2. And final. There may be some TA sites that cant do royal up. Of you all booked same way you should all be able to bid.

Sometimes the email doesnt come. No matter. Link above.
