Can every bar make a basic drink not on the menu?

Too bad they no longer have Crown on any ships. My husband's favorite was Crown and water. Now it's Woodford and water. He says it's not as good as Crown.

Two different animals.  Crown is Canadian blended whiskey, while Woodford Reserve is bourbon.  It's comparing an orange to a tangerine.

It’s a diet rum and pepsi or screwdriver. Basic drinks. Everything I’ve seen on the menus looks to be too sugary. Thanks!

Yes, I find most drinks are very sweet. After a couple of specialty drinks I'm ready for something basic like Gin and Tonic; any bar can make them. If you don't have Cheers, you can order a double of a basic cocktail for $3 more (maybe it' gone up, but that's what it was last time I ordered one.)

Awesome, without Cheers and this would be worth a try for me!

Once (not recently) I sailed Carnival and asked if they could make me a BBC like on Princess. NCL knows what this is (in my experience) and I'd never had an issue on NCL with getting one. When i asked at Carnival they just asked what it was and I told them Bailey's Banana Colada and they whipped one up for me that tasted pretty much perfect. Now I'm sure I was at one of the bars that was doing frozen drinks. I doubt everyone would be that lucky but it's worth the ask, worst they can do is say no.

During our trip on Horizon last year the piano bar bartender made a perfect dirty martini. One of the best I've had on Carnival or many land bars I've been to. I'm also not a huge fan of Alchemy, however, the bartenders are usually very good at making you something off-menu with ingredients/flavors you tell them you like (if it's not busy - don't be a jerk and give them something complicated during the rush lol).

And don't wander up with friends who drink, but you aren't currently imbibing for medical reasons.   They almost seemed to sneer when they loudly told me "we only serve drunks here!"

I'm a very occasional drinker, pretty much only on cruise ships and only when I'm forced to buy the Cheers package (my cruise-friends DO drink...a lot.)   I don't like the taste of alcohol so I tend to get the fruity frozen drinks...and availability DOES vary by bar.

Most bars, like the Serenity bar, Atrium bar, casino bar (if present), aft pool bar, etc. are well-rigged to make these, with several high-speed frozen drink machines, but some bars aren't.

At the Havana Bar on the Horizon when I ordered a Miami Vice, the bartender made a pina colada...and then just drizzled the strawberry daiquiri mix over it.  He called it "fancy style" but I nicknamed it "less effort style" since they only had one frozen machine.   (Normal procedure on Carnival is to pour pina colada and strawberry daiquiri simultaneously into a tall glass, so you get one half red, one half white.)

I figured I'd better not ask for a mango swirl at that bar.      😄
