Rental Car post-cruise FLL

We have a 5:30 PM flight from FLL on the day we disembark a Princess cruise from Port Everglades.  We are considering a rental car for the day. 

Do any car rental companies pick up at Port Everglades?  Is it best to get a taxi to the airport and pick up the rental car there?

I think it is easiest to just get a rental car at the airport via a taxi.

The is no free shuttle service from Port Everglades to FLL. A cab will cost around fifteen dollars plus tip for the short fifteen minute ride. Free shuttle service from Port Everglades was discontinued approximately four years ago. A few car rental companies provide free service to there off site locations located just outside of Port Everglades. The Alamo location on Eller Drive is closest facility that I'm aware of. You would have to call them directly to see if they still provide the free service.

Always use the rental companies right at the port gates. They had a free shuttle in January - it’s the Miami Road address.
