You would have to ask at GS, but I don't think you can do that.  Best way, go to the Casino, play one of the slots, and get your cash that way.

Yes, cash out the onboard credit in the casino, but remember you have to actually play 10% of whatever you transfer to your machine before cashing out, or your gambling account is frozen for 24 hours.

 

You can go to Guest Services and have an extra tip charged for your cabin steward, and fill out the form that includes space for a personal note.

We only do one turn and cash out.  Could care less if they freeze it for 24 hours.  We cash out and leave.  We are not gamblers, so we maybe spend $20 the entire week and our free money we get for being Pinnacle.

I have not yet done this on RCI, but I can tell you that on the competitors you simply visit guest services and request the form for an additional gratuity.  Make sure you have the employee name, dept. etc. to identify whom you wish to compensate.  NCL's form was multi-part and I was given a copy or two, so that I could provide it to the employee.  That way they knew what to expect or had proof if it didn't show up for them.  

 

 

As for using the casino as an ATM, I've started to print out each of these discussions, and I'm sending a copy to RCI.  Perhaps they'll institute measures to prevent this practice... or at the very least, adjust their feelings about a website that allows discussions on how to cheat the system.

I don't see this as cheating.  The obc is meant to be spent on board the ship, and for extra gratuities for the crew is certainly not cheating. 

 

I look at the fact that the casino makes it arduous for us to cash out the obc as pretty shady.  They want to grab the money for themselves, and punish the passenger for wanting it for other purposes.

Shady is the passenger who tries to convert OBC to cash.  OBC clearly is to offset charges for goods and services onboard.  If it were intended to be handed out as cash, then you could simply request a cash pay out at guest services.

 

But keep up these posts so RCI can see how large the problem is, prioritize it and initiate an IT upgrade to prohibit OBC from offsetting casino room charges.

To follow up:  I went to guest services on a recent cruise, told them I wanted to add a tip for the Diamond Concierge on my account.  They gave me a form to complete, including a personal note, and made the charge.  The amount was offset by my OBC, and therefore I used the OBC for services done by the Diamond Concierge on my behalf.  I see little difference between this and cashing out the OBC and giving the cash directly to the Diamond Concierge, or my cabin steward, or anyone I had filled out that form for at Guest Services.

 Yes.   Go to Guest Services and ask for the "additional gratuities form."   This form will allow you to designate a dollar amount to go to the individual by name and position to anyone on the ship.   The dollar amount is charged to your onboard account and will be taken from any OBC you have and if you have no OBC will be charged to the credit card on file. 

 

 We normally do this a day or two before the end of the cruise so we can keep track of it in the app.

No, OBC is an enticement or a reward (depending on who is giving it out) for booking a cruise.

Simply reflect on your actions: 

-you went to guest services and not the casino

-you filled out an RCI form and allowed the line to process the gratuity according their procedures, rather than taking cash out of the casino which is not the intention of a casino room charge.
