Bloomin Onion Posted December 18, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 18, 2022 Cruising out of New Orleans tomorrow on the Norwegian Breakaway and the Google maps directions are very different than the ones on the NCL website. The NCL website says to take Tchipotoulas Street to Henderson Street to Port of New Orleans Place. The second set of directions says to first go past the Carnival terminal at Erato Street. Would this mean heavy delays if there is also a Carnival ships in port? Are the Google maps directions (Chase Street to Convention Center Blvd) involve roads that might be blocked? RocketMan275 Posted December 18, 2022 #2 Share Posted December 18, 2022 We've only cruised from NOLA once. We parked at the julia street location. We used the directions that send you past the Carnival terminal. I don't recall any big congestion there. The Julia Street location is also called the Whale Lot because of a large mural of a whale on one of the adjacent buildings. It is all open air. The say they have security but it is not fenced and there have been reports of vandalism and theft. We plan on parking at the Fulton Street Gararge on our next cruise. Here's an excellent discussion of other parking. https://www.saintgregtravel.com/new-orleans-parking/ We did make one mistake parking at the Whale. There is an overpass walkway to the terminal. That walkway takes you to the Mall and not the terminal so you have to go down again once you're across. We won't use that walkway again.
