Onboard credit vs pre cruise purchase

Hi, for the free at sea dining package upgrade, it’s 70pp for an additional 2 restaurants in advance.

if we pay with a credit card for these since we wont be able to use our onboard credits and the price would be more onboard - would an onboard credit purchased by a travel agent be refundable?  If it isn’t, is there a way to get chips at the casino with the credit to then redeem it for cash?

if there’s a way to get the obc back based on the above, we’ll proceed with laying out the money for a pre cruise dining package upgrade.

thanks

My agent(s) obc's have always been refundable. You may want to clarify with them that they are "purchasing" it and it isn't actually something given by NCL that they are spinning as coming directly from them (not spinning as a bad thing, just meaning that some agencies may have an incentive arrangement with NCL and it the OBC might be non-refundable)

Also, you cannot cash out OBC at casino. There is a service fee even if you use the refundable. (you cannot cash out the non-refundable in any manner)

Hi all - does anyone know how I can find out of my onboard credit(s) are refundable vs non-refundable?  One I think was purchased by my travel agent and the other came from NCL I beleive.

NCL and the cruise line have not been able to answer whether or not refundable.

The only reason I want to know is that we want to purchase dining packages in advance of the cruise, but only if some of our onboard credits would be refundable since they would likely be unused and go to waste if we are making these purchases in advance.

Thank you.

I asked my TA because I wanted to pre-pay the gratuities for my upcoming cruise by years end but the TA was giving us pre-paid gratuities.  If we waited until we were on the ship they would be more and we would have to pay the difference, which was approx $120.

So we paid them up front, and the credit she will give us covering what we spent will be refundable OBC.

What I dont know is how do you get NCL to cash out your refundable OBC at the beginning of the crusie, so I actually get it back. I dont need more stuff...

You would only be able to get CASH by going to the casino and paying their fee to cash-out, OR, wait

until 24 hours of disembarkation and cash-out at Guest Service Desk!!!
