San Francisco Disembarkation and Ride Pick Up Time

We arrive in San Francisco early morning on a Friday and have arranged for a friend to pick us up at the pier.  What  would be a good time to tell them to be there? We haven’t sailed from San Francisco before so not sure where would should meet our ride?

There is a lot out front, or at the curb at the street. Depending where they are coming from and how they approach , there may be other solutions.
