bohaiboy Posted January 12, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2023 We sail SilverSea often and they have just offered many cruises at up to 20% off if prepaid in advance. This is 100% NONREFUNDABLE If I take out coverage immediately after booking (which would cover any pre-existing conditions) then I assume if the cruise is cancelled due to covered events, it makes no difference if the deposit/Fare is 100% nonrefundable or not, it should be covered. Am I thinking this thru correctly?
Babr Posted January 12, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2023 Correct. Check the language for Effective Date. Cancellation coverage usually begins at 12:01 AM on the day after the company receives payment. From that moment on, you are protected for covered reasons as defined in the policy. The purchase of insurance within the defined window of 14-21 days after payment, in your case - full payment, also gives you the pre-existing conditions waiver and CFAR if you want to purchase it. CFAR requires an additional premium.
