Crown Cruiser Posted January 12, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2023 I won a 7 day Princess Cruise in an inside room. I booked a 7 day on Sky Princess, but upgraded to a club class mini suite. After many conversations with a PVP who didn't seem to know all that much (or maybe she is new), the booking was changed to a new booking number and I was told (also have it in text) what my new balance would be. That's all great, but the website still has the old amount due (without the deduction for the comp cruise). Also the PVP sent me a new confirmation through email - same price again. I questioned it and she told me that the lower amount was what I was responsible for and that Princess has to deal with figuring out the rest. ( yes, I also have this in writing). My concern is this: when I make final payment, it's going to look like I didn't pay the entire balance. Has anyone else gone through this? Am I over reacting? I don't want to get this girl in trouble but I sailed over 40 times with Princess and this doesn't seem right. Please help. Thanks.
memoak Posted January 12, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2023 Please explain the word “won”. All of my comped cruises have been through the casino department and cannot be handled by my CVP. I always upgrade at the time of booking and have to pay everything upfront. Did you win the cruise in a lottery or through a land based casino ? Rare Rick&Jeannie Posted January 12, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2023 This does not sound right at all... I can almost guarantee this booking would be cancelled if the system does not "see" it paid in full. That's an automatic thing...nobody pushes a button. bella1775 Posted January 12, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2023 I won a cruise but on HAL so it may be different for Princess, but I could only book by calling the number on the certificate. I agree that what she told you doesn't sound correct. Everything I received from HAL reflected the amount I actually owed.
Crown Cruiser Posted January 12, 2023 Author #5 Share Posted January 12, 2023 The cruise was won from Nascar's Trackhouse Racing in conjunction with Princess Cruises. My PVP could not take care of this - I had a specific person and phone number to call. I'm going to call and ask for a supervisor in the morning. This is definitely not right. Why are you going through a PVP when it's another phone number? Sounds like the PVP wants credit for your cruise.
Crown Cruiser Posted January 12, 2023 Author #7 Share Posted January 12, 2023 The phone number is to Princess Cruises but it’s not the 1800PRINCESS I would usually call. I originally emailed MY PVP and asked her if she could handle the booking for me but she said no, I had to call the number I was given. I truly think the person I spoke to had no clue. It took my 3 days of calls with her to finally get her to give me a price.
EllaDuChien Posted January 13, 2023 #8 Share Posted January 13, 2023 I am taking my first ever Princess cruise on Saturday and it was a comp from a Las Vegas casino. I too upgraded and added Princess Plus but the Princess rep had me pay that part right there, that way the remaining balance was all owed by the casino, not me. In my case, the casino paid fairly promptly and everything was fine but she did warn me that sometimes outside comp cruises don't get paid until the week before sailing. I am glad the Venetian didn't make me wait that long, I would have been crazy!
