Snorkeling excursions off or close to beaches

Hi there,

We would like to spend the day at a beach in St Maartin. We also like to snorkel but would prefer to go off shore in a boat, rather than at the beach. Does anyone know if any beaches have excursions you can just book when you arrive or have excursions close to a beach we can just walk to.  We wanted to try Orient Beach but are open to other places as well.  Thanks for your time!

If Orient Beach is of interest and to snorkel.  Then consider extending the range with just a short ferry ride from Orient Bech to Pinel Island for a snorkel in the protected Marine Park.  No booking required for the Pinel Ferry.  Make a one’s “base” on Pinel at either Karibuni or Yellow Beach (Booking advisable at either), for gentle waves snorkelling, or if stronger swimmers then bigger rocks/waves and more fish round the headland to the north.

 

There are no beaches that have snorkelling walkable from Cruise Terminal.  The nearest walkable is Great Bay, and I for one would never consider swimming there.
