Uber/Lift from Galveston hotel to Ship?

Has anyone had to take a Lift/Uber from a Galveston hotel to Ship?  Any issues?

Uber is not allowed into the port as they won't pay the fee required.

And yet, people get picked up and dropped off by Uber from just about every sailing...

My experience has been consistently that nobody is paying attention who is driving up.  The app won't allow you to select the port as an address, but talking with the driver usually fixes that.

Yes the Port has been saying that for a year . License plate readers are installed to police the intruders not licensed to enter the premises. Are are they being used yet ??? Are they enforcing their licensing ordinances ??
