Still No Cabin Assignment

We paid for guaranteed VD and allocated VA. So yes, a slight upgrade.

It was our first time not choosing a cabin.

I hope the good allocation fairy is kind to you, good luck!

We set sail in 18 days (February 11) on Nieuw Statendam with a Guarantee Oceanview cabin.  We have no yet received our cabin assignment nor our embarkation time.  On the HAL website, it shows Oceanview cabins are sold out.  It also shows 80+ verandahs are still available.  This is a "free" cruise for us from the casino (as always, we had to pay port expenses, taxes, etc.).  I'm holding out hope that an upgrade to a verandah may be a possibility.  I'm just curious if anyone out there in HAL land who was given a "free" guarantee oceanview cabin was ever upgraded to a verandah?  Fingers crossed!  LOL

Our cruise is showing completely sold out!

I always hold my breath when booking a guarantee cabin because I rarely agree with HAL on what is considered a "better category".  For example, I would rather have a VD or VC on decks 6 or 7 than a VA on deck 8 (under the Lido) but they consider a VA to be an upgrade from a VD.  Same goes for a V or VA near the elevators/landings.  I realize it's subjective but it could also be argued that their system has a skew built into it to make people believe they are getting an upgrade when in fact, they are receiving an inferior location.

Also, if you read your ticket contract very carefully you will find they don't really have to give you the cabin you have chosen, even if you opt out of free upgrades but I have found that during those times when they swapped rooms on us "for operational purposes" they were more willing to be flexible and let me choose a replacement cabin if I didn't like the location of the upgrade they gave us.  But in the case of a guarantee assigned cabin they can be very insistent that you agreed to accept any cabin in return for a guarantee price so won't move you if you don't like where they put you.

We got our 2nd cabin assignment this morning. I don't know how my PCC does it but we wound up with an aft wrap. So we have 2 aft wraps on this cruise. Our favorite cabin.

We are 5 star mariners and purchased a guarantee verandah for  niew Statendam cruise leaving february 4th 2023.  We were assigned a VQ level cabin 7 days ago.  We printed our luggage tags .

Tonight , I went on the website and found that our cabin had been reassigned to a VA level (lowest possible level in guarantee category).

Lucky for us or we'd be looking for our luggage for a few days.  Has anyone ever had that happen to them before?  change of guaranteed cabin from one week to the next???

can't say we were impressed.

Hi - who is your PCC, if I may ask? Mine (initials LW) is not helpful at all, EVER, with anything; I'd I do better searching site and either booking on my own then calling to have it adjusted or calling in to book. I also call and have Pricing Specialist make adjustments when rates drop - PCC has not helped. Not the way it should work or my experience w/PCC on Princess. Thanks!

We are not allowed to mention PCC's names on here. Her initials are VT. I have had her since 2007.

That has happened to us to.  We've had re-assignments at the last minute.

FWIW a VA is not the lowest guarantee unless you specifically bought a VA guarantee.  It's actually the second highest non-spa Veranda (behind V) and a pretty good one.  The spa verandas, IMHO are not superior in any way to the non spa ones and arguably could be considered inferior due to their location (unless being close to the spa and fitness center is important to you).  Generally speaking the V and VA have superior locations.

I agree.  I’ve found the balcony on the spa cabin to be smaller plus I felt a lot of vibration.

"We set sail in 7 days and still no cabin assignment...  LOL  This is the longest we have ever waited to get our cabin assignment when purchasing a guarantee!"

Aren't you sailing this weekend?  Any stateroom assignment?

Yes, we are sailing on Saturday, 2/11, and we are still waiting for our cabin assignment.  We never had to wait this long!  It will be a surprise at the port (probably) LOL  I will print our luggage tags with no cabin number (first time ever)...

Easier to let the porter tag them at the pier.

Wow...this is quite late for a cabin assignment.

Are you checking the Navigator app or the website? We got an email from our PCC showing our assigned cabin. The Navigator app still showed no cabin assigned until my wife logged out and logged back in.

Yes, I have arrived at the Port with a last minute cabin change.  Always have been very happy with my GTY cabin.  We had the wrong luggage delivered to the cabin, but a call to the front desk, and it was all corrected expeditiously!

we have also arrived at the port with no cabin assigned yet, and the porters would have our name on a list and make up a luggage tag for us right bon the spot.

We finally received our cabin assignment this morning for our Saturday cruise...  LOL  We were given an Oceanview Category C -- mid-ship, main deck.  We'd rather have a cabin on one of the higher decks, but this is OK as well.  Thanks for all of the well wishes and shared experiences!
