Oscar Oscar Oscar on the harmony of the seas today around 7am

This morning around 7 AM I heard them over the PA saying Oscar, Oscar, Oscar. When I look up online what it meant, I discovered that it means man went overboard. I tried to Google it and there is no information on this anywhere, so does anybody know what’s going on, did somebody really go overboard? Does anybody have any details?

Thinking out loud, did the ship stop and go back for a search or did you continue sailing on?  If you did not stop and search I would say it was a drill for the crew to be prepared for if and when it happens. You might have missed the announcement earlier saying that crew drills were going on and for guests to ignore the announcements.

 

I have been on board during an Oscar when an objected was spotted thought to possibly be a human, and the ship did a hard turn and a complete stop.  Spotlights went on and crew were all on the side of the ship looking for a person. This process lasted and hour or more with frequent announcement from the bridge on the PA keeping guests and crew informed.  At the end of the search an object was found to which was floating trash and the search concluded and we continued on. 

Edit, I hope it was only a drill.
