FromMyDeckChair Posted January 28, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2023 We'll be setting sail on Encore next month...first Seabourn since Covid and wondering if the oh-so-fascinating galley tours and bridge navigation tours have gone by the wayside thanks to pandemic restrictions? CanAmBrit Posted January 28, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2023 There was a bridge tour and galley lunch earlier this week on the Quest. Kurt, the HD, says that there will be more galley tours for those who wish it.
Mauzac Posted January 28, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2023 I did a galley tour, and I know there were Bridge tours... on a SB cruise just recently.
skybluewaters Posted January 28, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2023 Yes, galley tours are back, and more importantly...galley grand buffet's are back!
MBP&O2/O Posted January 29, 2023 #5 Share Posted January 29, 2023 Ooooh .... Bridge tours? That could be interesting ... see how much things have changed since I left!
blueexpedition29 Posted February 4, 2023 #6 Share Posted February 4, 2023 i am on Encore as we speak and there was both a galley tour day ( watch the calendar or ask when you board as it is limited capcity) as well as a buffet lunch that is set up through the galley. Very nicely done.

Who would I ask when we board in Montreal - Seabourn Square or someone/somewhere else? MJ

CanAmBrit Posted February 7, 2023 #10 Share Posted February 7, 2023 MJfromCA, where and when to sign up for bridge tours is usually announced in the Herald.
goodvino808 Posted February 7, 2023 #11 Share Posted February 7, 2023 My wife and I were able to see the bridge on ovation last week in the Caribbean. We went to Seabourn Square and talked to guest relations. They were able to provide us with two different options. The tour was about 45 minutes done by the second officer, it was excellent.. MJfromCA Posted February 8, 2023 #12 Share Posted February 8, 2023 Thank you both! I'll watch the Herald and also talk to Guest Relations in Seabourn Square, just to be sure.

They will have a sign up sheet.
conchyjoe Posted February 9, 2023 #14 Share Posted February 9, 2023 They have changed a lot. Not a chinagraph pencil in sight! It’s all gone digital and very electricity and satellite dependent. Not sure how they would cope if it all goes down.
MJfromCA Posted February 9, 2023 #15 Share Posted February 9, 2023 OK, so if Seabourn Square doesn't work for both the bridge and galley tours, I'll throw the Seabourn App into the mix as well (though there have been reports of issues with it). I'm excited about the chance to take these tours, so I appreciate all the help and tips. MJ

I wore out more than a few chinagraph pencils chasing aircraft carriers around the Pacific as a young watch stander. Like you, not so sure about the automated and fully electronic systems. But everything changes I suppose. Looking forward to the chance for a bridge tour on the Odyssey which we board in about five weeks.
MBP&O2/O Posted February 12, 2023 #17 Share Posted February 12, 2023 We only used chinagraph for plotting on the steam driven radar .. charts were paper and 2B pencils. I am sure I read somewhere that they are only given basic instruction for terrestrial and celestial navigation, and in respect of the latter no open btridge wings won't help.
