caminomama Posted January 28, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2023 How was your experience with the unlimited fitness pass on HAL? Will there be an online schedule posted so I can buy it before sailing? I would love to keep up my yoga and Pilates.
caminomama Posted February 20, 2023 Author #2 Share Posted February 20, 2023 Still wondering about this? Does no one buy these?
Rare FlaMariner Posted February 20, 2023 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2023 So we frequent the HAL gym and we've never heard of this....We were last onboard in November 2022.
Rare CruiserN1 Posted February 20, 2023 #4 Share Posted February 20, 2023 I've never cruised with HAL before but on other lines I usually stop by the fitness center on embarkation day and ask about fitness classes and passes. I find it's better to talk with the person who's actually running them about what's offered and when, and then decide if I want to buy a pass or just pay for a couple of classes.
Sambucus Posted February 20, 2023 #5 Share Posted February 20, 2023 We have bought them on a few cruises but the quality of the classes depends on the instructor. They have ranged from excellent, where the instructor took us under his wing and was very diligent, to an instructor who fell asleep in savasana after a ‘heavy’ night out. The worst was someone who couldn’t remember the (presumably, corporate) instructions and was following them on his phone! The other problem with them is that many classes are scheduled on port days during excursions so it can be difficult to attend. The best gym instructors reschedule for before or after but that’s rare.

If you look on the Spa Home page, online under your booking, there is Fitness Services and under that category you can prebook personal training, body composition analysis, nutritional consultation and buy an unlimited fitness pass. Maybe the schedule will be set closer to our HAL sailing date.
caminomama Posted April 4, 2023 Author #8 Share Posted April 4, 2023 So I got confirmation that the schedule classes and sale of passes happen on board. My next question is - Are classes offered in a separate room or on the main gym floor? I did not enjoy being in a yoga class on the main floor of a different cruise line. Rare Mary229 Posted April 4, 2023 #9 Share Posted April 4, 2023 First understand there are always some free classes offered - usually an early morning stretch, an evening stretch and one or two other classes. They tend to charge for yoga. where they are held depends on the ship. On the smallest ship there is a separate area in the gym but still open to the gym. On the new pinnacle ships there are separate rooms. Some of the free stretch classes may be pool side. Do understand that cruise fitness instructors are not specialist and likely the only certification and training they received was from the cruise lines. my suggestion is to try the free stretches with the fitness instructor before buying anything. You may want to go to your roll call and see if you can organize a casual group on your own.
