kelleherdl Posted January 31, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2023 Where are cruise ships going to homeport in New York now? It looks like the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal has been turned into the migrant facility for the City of New York. I’m concerned about MSC Meraviglia and Explora Journeys, but there must be other lines impacted as well.
Brighton Line Posted January 31, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2023 MSC does not sail from Brooklyn until the end of April. Come April housing can go back to Tent Cities like they had on Randalls Island. Even though this is the warmest January in a long while its too cold for tents.
smokeykat Posted January 31, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2023 Reports here in NY are saying they will be gone when cruise season starts. Cunard and Princess sail out of the Brooklyn terminal also.
kelleherdl Posted January 31, 2023 Author #4 Share Posted January 31, 2023 Thanks both. Anxiety level back to minimal. 😀
LTCruzer Posted February 1, 2023 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2023 Is it possible some of the migrants could be hired by the cruise lines to help with the staff shortages? Seems like a win for everyone - cruise lines get more staff, the migrants hired will have housing, food & an income and the terminal would be available for use by cruise lines.
