Shows are still not available to book and we sail in 2 weeks.  Do we just reserve the shows onboard?

All shows must be booked onboard.  Go ASAP upon embarkation to the designated location (See NCL FREESTYLE DAILY for the location!)

There will be staff to guide you, use NCL app while you wait in line.

They have not done online entertainment reservations since the COVID shutdown. 

 

A lot of times, entertainment schedules are being finalized shortly before departure. COVID and such have forced all cruise lines to be more flexible with their scheduling (e.g., a cast member or an entire cast is quarantined, but will be available at the end of the cruise, so they move their shows out later in the week). 

 

Always ask the guides as you embark. Normally, on Breakaway/Breakaway+ ships, head toward Headliners/The Social (Deck 6 Mid-ship) to make reservations. On the Prima and Epic, head toward the Theater box office. You can try the NCL App as you embark, on the past couple of cruises late last year, the full schedule was not loaded into the App. You can also stop at a touch screen kiosk near elevator lobbies and try there... but it is easier to just go to the entertainment booking center.

Wow it's been a while since i cruised (crazy, i know) but daughter is sailing soon and im planning my own but very surprised that you need to schedule this, before you could just show up.  I guess is one of many covid changes.

It is totally dependent upon the ship. Small ships do not require reservations. You show up when you want. Big ships (Epic, Breakaway, Getaway, Escape, Bliss, Joy, Encore, Prima, Viva) have always required reservations (starting 2009). You can always go stand-by,,, they will let you in 10 minutes before show time and you can grab the seats no one else wanted. 

 

Many cruise line do this for larger ships for crowd control. Theaters on NCL big ships hold around 800 passenger,,, and you don't want 4500 people to show up trying to get in.

On the Joy last month we were able to book shows using the TV in our room. Did it on boarding day prior to sailing, very easy.
