martiniren Posted February 6, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2023 (edited) Asking for a friend - really! Actually, my sister-in-law. She (and 11 others) are booked on the January 27, 2024 Seascape sailing (Western Caribbean). The Travel Agent actually advised them that they will be allowed to smoke tobacco cigarettes, e-cigarettes and vape on their balconies. Most people in her party are smokers - cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vape. I cruise with Celebrity a few times a year, and I'm accustomed to their no-smoking policy (not on balconies, staterooms or any inside venue), so of course, I told her she could not smoke on her balcony. I told her I'd reach out to the MSC cruisers for their input as to whether she and the rest of her party can smoke on their balconies. Thank you for any input! Smoking - cigarets, cigars, e-cigs are not allowed in cabins, balconies. They are only allowed in designated areas which are: Casino ( the only inside area on the ship) Deck 8 outside starboard side by the infinity pool, Deck 8 outside starboard side midship by loft cafe, Deck 19 outside by the Marina bar. They actually have very comfortable seats and ASHTRAYS for disposal. I know because my husband is a smoker and we were on the SEascape a month ago. Check MSC website. mmbcater Posted February 8, 2023 #4 Share Posted February 8, 2023 There are hefty fines and on the second occurrence they may be disembarked at the port of the country they are visiting, I would advise them to only smoke/vape in the smoking areas,,,, 1

scorpiony3358 Posted February 16, 2023 #6 Share Posted February 16, 2023 I was on the Rome to NYC sailing and besides no smoking on balconies there is no cigar smoking lounge as I was told prior to booking. In addition all except one location for smoking is covered. It's very windy when sitting in the designated smoking areas. Smoking is allowed in one area of the casino, but the ventilation sucks. WindinmySails Posted June 7, 2023 #8 Share Posted June 7, 2023 I just read that vapes, e-cigs are not even allowed on board. Would love to know more about this. Being from California with strict smoking rules, I was not prepared for so much smoke almost everywhere. Smoke even made it's way into the elevators, main dining room, buffet, and stateroom hall ways. Got a sinus infection halfway thru our cruise as a result and avoided interior casino / bar / lounge decks. I get sinus infections whenever I travel to Las Vegas even passing thru their casinos laden with thick heavy smoke. Just recovering from the infection after getting antibiotics from my doctor as soon as I returned home.

deliver42 Posted June 11, 2023 #12 Share Posted June 11, 2023 I wonder how many people have been fined listening to this stupid TA's advice about smoking on the balcony. The only line that still allows that is Costa.

You also want to look at the Vaping Laws of the countries visiting. Mexico-it's illegal, Jamaica-you cant bring and vape equipment.... have them google each country

I hope non smoking casinos are done to the European sailings but I don't hold much hope as Europeans smoke a lot more than US folks.
Blessedandhighlyfavoured Posted July 19 #17 Share Posted July 19 I've cruised with Celebrity and they strictly enforce a no-smoking policy, including on balconies. MSC Cruises generally allow smoking in designated areas, but not on balconies or inside venues due to fire safety regulations. Your sister-in-law's group could face fines or penalties for smoking in unauthorized areas. While it's tempting, respecting others' space is key aboard ships. Suggest they check MSC's specific policies or contact the cruise line directly to avoid any issues. It's about ensuring everyone enjoys their cruise safely and respectfully.
55J5-5 Posted July 20 #18 Share Posted July 20 Hi! I had a similar experience recently 🙂 I brought a vape and was disappointed to find out I couldn't use it on the balcony. I really enjoy using it, so it was tough not being able to vape where I wanted. Make sure your sister-in-law checks directly with MSC Cruises about their balcony smoking policy to avoid any surprises.
sundown6 Posted July 25 #19 Share Posted July 25 (edited) Sounds like a smokin' good time ahead 🙂 Celebrity's rules are pretty clear, but MSC might have different policies, so it's wise to check directly with them. I'm planning a trip too, but almost all of my friends and I are smokers, so that'll be interesting to see, haha. I'm still taking my new vape from https://www.red-vape.ch/ I'll see how that goes. Wish me luck 😄 Edited July 25 by sundown6
