Details, please. Blackjack, Embarkation, Dailies

Hi Folks, We're getting ready for Century on March 19th. Could anyone fill me in on some Celebrity details?

In the Celebrity Fortunes Casino- are there $5 or $10 blackjack tables? Or are the minimums higher? Does the dealer stay or hit on soft seventeen?

Century will stay overnight on FLL Saturday. (It's switching from a 10 day to a seven day cruise, I think.) Given the lack of rushing around, what time would you think boarding will begin on Sunday?

Last time I cruised Celebrity, a souvenier glass of champaign was offered as we boarded. Some of our friends were unpleasantly surprised to have the cost appear on their ship credit card. Is there still a charge for this "Welcome" , or perhaps free to Captain's Club members?

Will our room steward be amenable to a request for two copies of the Dailies each day? I like to scribble on mine.

Thank you for any answers. JAB

We were met by the glass of champagne or mimosas as we boarded. Did not keept he glass and there was no charge. This is the 3rd cruise where we were greeted like this and never were we charged for it. I would have disputed that charge.

The dealer does most definately hit on soft seventeen. During my recent Galaxy cruise there was one table of single deck blackjack that had a slight variation from the regular rules. Most tables were $5 there was one $10 min BJ table each night.

The welcome Champagne is always free to everyone. Did they keep the glass? Or is it possibly the didn't get it when they boarded but really go it at one of the other venues like the dining room, buffet area or during sail away? Also, how would it appear if they did not give their sail and sign card. Sounds like an error, but definitely not tied to the welcome champagne.

You've all filled in a lot of the nagging questions I had for our Century cruise. Thankyouverymuch.

Mahdnc and April- Your casino input will influence my gambling budget for this trip. Single deck Blackjack is not my game. I have "basic Strategy" skills, but I can't count cards.

Shofer- I'm sure it was the "Souvenir glass" that was being charged. And since it was immediately after boarding, they had the folks' credit card info. This was a cruise in 2003 on Constellation.

Retired Mom- I'm glad to learn that two dailies is OK. Thank you.

More Mangos- 11:10 AM it will be, and thank you for your advice. (Seabee- did you pick up on this? Yes, I'm excited.)

I love this website! JAB:)

It wouldn't help if you could count cards. The single deck game only pays 6 to 5 for a blackjack, instead of the customary 3 to 2. Nobody can beat that game without a lot of luck. Everyone should shun it until X has no choice but to get rid of it.

I agree, single deck BJ is not the way you want to go. I sat there a couple of times and it doesn't help if you CAN count the cards because they only use the top half of the cards then they pull out a new deck from the shuffler. If you like the slots - you will have a much better chance of hitting on the first and second nights. This has held true for me on several cruises. I have hit early and they get really tight after that.

Nevertheless, playing perfect basic strategy is a smart thing to do. Have fun and good luck!

There are $5 BJ tables on board. Dealer does not hit soft 17. You also can double down on any two cards and double off of splits.

I think the limits are $300.

The Champagne they picked up may have been the drink of the day and were charged for it.

Got to watch what is being given on boarding.
