Lloyd555 Posted December 23, 2023 Author #76 Share Posted December 23, 2023 (edited) If you're thinkng that Star of the Seas could be bigger/longer than Icon of the Seas, apparently not. Thanks to @Eremita85 for bringing article to my attention. It is also based on the Icon 1 in its technical characteristics. I can't really say anything else about it, because the subscriber will inform about the differences and new features in his own schedule. Wondering when the name for the third ship will come out.
Lloyd555 Posted December 23, 2023 Author #79 Share Posted December 23, 2023 (edited) A question about Meyer Werft's webcam (some of Star's blocks are in Hall 5 as shown in some earlier posts here) had me reminiscing and looking back at Quantum of the Seas's build thread. My introduction to Royal Caribbean cruise ship builds started with this ship here on Cruise Critic. I wanted to check out my first ever post. Apparently it's this one... Sigh. I was such a novice. Thanks to all the others who contributed to the thread and showed me the ropes, as well as get me excited about cruise ship construction. 😁 AND NOW BACK TO OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAM... Tough as Leather Posted December 26, 2023 #80 Share Posted December 26, 2023 Checking out the Turku marina webcam, I'm seeing some white & blue modules that I can only assume belong to the Star of the Seas.

Yep, they arrived on monday. Came from Germany, maybe originally from Meyer Werft but Meri brought them either from Wismar or Rostock, where it visited before coming to Meyer Turku. Lloyd555 Posted January 28 Author #85 Share Posted January 28 From Port of Turku on Instagram: Last week, quite a pearl passed through our port. It is an element manufactured by Mobimar for a cruise ship under construction at the Meyer shipyard. The element weighing about 150 tons was moved by self-propelled trailer onto a barge and then by sea to Meyer's shipyard. #projectloading #throughtheport #meyerturku #becausetimematters #kunajallaonmerkitystä

True Liandry Posted February 4 #89 Share Posted February 4 Interesting what different will be on Star. Oasis and Allure was very similar, (95% the same), later Oasis class ships became more different. But there was some years between Allure and Harmony. Now RCI build 3 Icon class ships, so they could be very similar. Or maybe each new Icon ship will be different, or first two wil be almost the same and third will be different. What do you guys think?
Nathan Graveson Posted February 4 #90 Share Posted February 4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2B-PBfFcWaA Thought you might find this an interesting conversation... A few allusions to a 4th Icon Class ship being ordered soon?
cruise1957 Posted February 4 #91 Share Posted February 4 I read somewhere 5 Icon Class with the first 2 being very similar then the next ones being a second generation Icon Class. We will see if that actually happens.

Tom I found a rough guesstimate HERE. I suspect that something like the Star would probably exceed their upper range (of 2.5 million man hours).
