St. Maarten questions

Sailing to St. Maarten next week on Symphony. 2 families with kids ranging in age from 18-8. What is the easiest decent beach to walk/take a taxi too? Just want to play in the water/sand for awhile, without traveling a huge distance from pier.

The best being closest to the ship would be Little Divi Beach Resort.  Use of facilities is allowed if taking beds and drinks etc..  Be aware that sometimes the sea may not be child friendly.  
Cab approx $6 pp e/way.  

It is possible to walk but it could take 40 minutes.   Forget the mayhem and sewer aka Great Bay.

6/10 minutes depending on traffic.  Minivans can take 10 pax.
And drivers have been known to accept $40 for the whole van for a return.  Just ask.

Cab rank is outside the main port area, to the right after a shopping mall (well signposted) about a 10 minute stroll from the ship.

Outward driver will be pleased to be booked for the timed return.
