cb at sea Posted March 10, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2006 I'm sure you've stayed in a hotel with connecting doors--did that bother you? Unless the folks in the other room are EXTREMELY loud, you should be fine.
minnie00 Posted March 10, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted March 10, 2006 do you think it is good for a first timer who has no idea if they are going to be bothered by seasickness yet??? I guess I am worried if there is more movement. thanks !!!
Wakka Posted March 10, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2006 All I can say is this: Once you stayed in A JS you won't want an interior cabin.;) Happy Sailings!:)
bartelbee Posted March 10, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 10, 2006 We were on Explorer but I'm told the layout is pretty much the same. We just put the chair in front of the connecting door (which also freed up a lot of room in the cabin) and never thought about the people next door at all. We never heard them--never even saw them. As far as the seasickness, I've always found I'm more prone to it in the public, interior rooms. I need fresh air and a view of the horizon and that's why I always book a balcony, preferably aft. Remember, you'll have a table and chairs and 2 loungers on your balcony. You can practically live out there if you want.
starq1 Posted March 10, 2006 #7 Share Posted March 10, 2006 Our first cruise was on the Rhapsody and also a JS aft(8088)! We LOVED it and have actually planned our next two around getting the aft. In my opinion I don't think that I would prefer a reg. balcony now. The size of the aft balconies can't be beat(unless you are in a bigger suite). I thought I would be bothered by seasickness too, but it never was an issue. One time the ship was rockin a bit and I thought I better take dramimine(sp), took it and everything was fine. If you can be so lucky to have an aft I would take it in a heartbeat. They are some of the most sought after cabins.....Go for it~!

joshkathy Posted March 10, 2006 #9 Share Posted March 10, 2006 Hey Minnie, If you're concerned about the motion, you can always take Bonine preventively...lots of cruisers do. Helps and it's not supposed to cause tiredness like Dramamine does. I'm slightly motion sickness prone and have used it on every cruise I've been on (including one on a real sailing ship) and have never been bothered. rnjune Posted March 11, 2006 #10 Share Posted March 11, 2006 A JS is the way to go. After you have a balcony you will never want to travel any other way. It's great to sit out there with your morning coffee or to relax after a day at the beach or pool.
Cruising89143 Posted March 11, 2006 #11 Share Posted March 11, 2006 I have had this JS and the other JS next door to it on the Navigator and would book it again in a heartbeat. I have some photos of the cabin and balcony in my link below. Great ship by the way.
KK_Cruisin Posted March 12, 2006 #12 Share Posted March 12, 2006 It is a double edged sword. You have an ft cabin which 95% of ppl love. Some prefer other locations. And you have a JS. After this you won't even consider a smaller cabin on future cruises. :) You do feel motion the higher up you are and in my opnion the closer to the front of the ship you are, but even them it is extremly minimal. Definatlly take something daily. Dont wait until you are nauseas (sp?) cuz them you will lay around waiting for it to kick in. I am sensitive to medications so i alwasy remmomend when taking something new try it for a few days a couple of week before you go on vacation to make sure it doesnt bother you. Also a good back up plan are the magnetic bracelets. They help with nausua.
