Cinque Terre: Monterosso/Portovenere vs Monterosso/Manarola/Rio Maggiore

We've been to Cinque Terre several times, but it was a long time ago.  The 2 Celebrity ship tours we're considering for our Livorno port include Portovenere boating to Monterosso and the other a train/bus to Monterosso, Manarola and Rio Maggiore.  We love Monterosso, but would appreciate view points on Potovenere vs Manarola & Rio Maggiore.  Please, no suggestions on touring independently or with private companies as we're only considering these 2 ship tours.  Thanks for any information.

If those are the only two choices (we emphasize this) we would opt for the tour that includes Portovenere.  Why?  It is actually a nice place to visit and the villages of Cinque Terre have been suffering (badly) from over tourism.  On a busy spring/summer day, Rio Maggiore can be similar to walking through a crowded train station during rush hour!

Portovenere is a nice enough village but not part of the Cinque Terre and thus lacks the specific characteristics and charme of these.

To enjoy the uniqueness of the Cinque Terre I would opt for the tour with the beautiful Manarola und Riomaggiore.

I would also go with the Monterosso, Manarola, Riomaggiore tour.
