Catherine’s Cafe

We visited Antigua on March 7, 2023.  A few notes:

* Booked through WhatsApp

*Taxi was $40 each way. They wanted $50 but was able to talk them down to $40. They                    laughed when I said $30 and said my official list of taxi prices was out of date.  It was about a 45 minute drive.

*Very friendly welcome.  Sat in two loungers in the shade.  Arrived at 10 am and left at 2pm. Had a wonderful lunch of a steak baguette and a cheese board. Also had two cokes.  Bill was $56 and included a 12.5% service fee.  They very happily accepted our American Express card.

*Spent about 3 hours in the beautiful turquoise clear water.  Very calm and not too crowded.

*Only cost was our food.

*Very clean bathroom and they had a outdoor shower for use.

Overall, we would recommend Catherine’s Cafe for a nice pleasant day at the beach with great service.

I booked through Open Table but i am confused.  I don't want to sit in the restaurant at 10:30 (time of reservation).  How does this place work exactly??

Can only speak for direct booking with Catherine’s.

Usually one books, receives a confirmation direct from Catherine’s.  Arrive, check in, booking verified, escorted to beds, bedside drinks service arrives.  Then when ready to take Lunch, one can decide to take a beach lunch at one’s bed, or move to the Restaurant.

Had no idea what Open Table was, neither have no knowledge of what OT has offered or confirmed.  Therefore, to end any confusion feel it’s a best to contact OT, as one’s booking is made with them.

Out of interest, googled and discovered Open Table is a third party Restaurant Booking Company, when one can book to dine.

Fail to understand what purpose OT serves for booking a Restaurant, when Restaurants already have a booking opportunity on a website.  Catherine’s Cafe is an upmarket Restaurant which has additional services, being the availability of sun beds and other facilities for paying patrons,

It appears, from information supplied by @deew0424, they  had booked to dine at 10.30 am, which would be a “Brunch” and they do not wish to sit in the Restaurant to take Brunch.  This will not be a problem, as Catherine’s is flexible to the requirements of their paying customers.

How did you work the return taxi?  Were they available, did you arrange with the taxi who brought you?
