tigger8792 Posted March 13, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2023 How good is the tour Stockholm old town by foot? We are thinking about doing Stockholm city pass and going to see Vasa Stockholm museum on our own. Thanks
CDR2001 Posted March 13, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2023 We stayed in Stockholm a few days before our cruise and bought the city pass card. We spent an entire day at Vasa and other spots on Djurgarden. We used the hop on bus and boat also. The next day was embarkation and we did the included Stockholm on foot tour. It was a good sightseeing tour with a raunchy guide, good sights, poor commentary. (You may have a better guide, Viking heard from me and said he would be dismissed). I’d pick Vasa on your own over the walking tour for sure!
janetcbl Posted March 13, 2023 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2023 There is a free public walking tour of the Stockholm Old Town ( stockholmfree tour.com). Plan to tip them at the end.
Rare CDNPolar Posted March 13, 2023 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2023 We enjoyed it and then went and wandered ourselves after. It was a good introduction.
Rare Vineyard View Posted March 14, 2023 #5 Share Posted March 14, 2023 We explored Stockholm on our own. Very easy city to do this. We disembarked there, so stayed a couple days - I would encourage you to not miss Vasa. Well worth extra time spent.
Rare Azulann Posted March 14, 2023 #6 Share Posted March 14, 2023 We are staying two night in Sodermaln area at the NOFO hotel before the start of our Viking cruise in June. We will go to old town to explore on on our own , visit the Nobel Peace Prize museum and look forward to local lunch , dinner in both areas. Any suggestions ? Den Gyldene Freden is my favorite old town restaurant. Went there the first time as a student (decades ago) and it is still great. If you can get a table in the cellar, do. 1
