New subject, never needed the extra outlets before so last time in Europe just use the one extension  for husbands cpap. Now question one, for the cruise I bought a plug for cruise ships without surge protection as told on other board. Will we need an European style extension with surge protection for the multiple nights staying it three different hotels in Italy? Question two will we need two converters or do most hotels have both US and European outlets?

Thanks

Please also confirm that the CPAP machine will run on the European standard 220V.  There may be a changeover switch, or it may quite happily cope with a wide voltage range, but you don't want it to burn out 10 seconds after being plugged in to something that's twice the US mains voltage.

I don't see any need for surge protection.  If you need an extension, all you need to do is make the mains lead longer.

Also, if the mains lead unplugs from the CPAP machine, consider an alternative: Buy a long lead in the US with a European (Type F or Schuko) plug on one end (https://www.worldstandards.eu/electricity/plugs-and-sockets/f/) and one that fits the CPAP machine on the other.

Why would you need surge protection?  A regular extension lead will be sufficient.

You will not find American style outlets in Europe.

Hotels in Italy will have the standard Euro socket with/without side earth.  Some older Italian hotels did have sockets that were specific to Italy, but most of those have now been replaced by the current Euro type socket.
