John has written several times that he is a contract employee just like cruise directors, wait team members and cabin stewards are contract employees.
Rare TxTeach79 Posted March 21, 2023 #27 Share Posted March 21, 2023 They may still fill in occasionally, bridge gaps, etc.... because I just got off the Glory on Sunday and Cookie had just done a three or four cruise stint and was handing over to Mike Pack who was there until Amber Celen took over.
JimmyTheSaint Posted March 22, 2023 #28 Share Posted March 22, 2023 I never paid much attention to who was the CD until we did a Transatlantic a few years ago when Mike Pack was the CD. The guy was amazingly energetic, seemed to be everywhere on the ship day and night. He was a major creator of the fantastic atmosphere on board. If he's now training CDs that's going to raise standards massively.
snoozecrooze Posted March 22, 2023 #29 Share Posted March 22, 2023 There's actually three fleet cruise directors now; Mike Pack was the first, but he was joined by CD emeritus NoNo Jones last summer, and Donkey is the newest addition. Here's a visit they made recently: Donkey announced his promotion on social media about a week ago.
