Beverage Package Tracking

Recommended Posts

Sorry for creating another beverage package thread but I was just wondering if there is a rundown of what you bought on our account.  I was planning on keeping track on our next cruise as I bought the deluxe package and I just want to see how close the numbers are so I know what to do for the next trip.

I am hoping RCL puts it on your final bill so I don't have to keep track.  Even if they don't put the amounts that'd be good.

You can look at your account on the App.  (before the final day - as it blanks out then)   That view only shows that you got a drink and the place you got it.  It will also show your other purchases (room service, shops on the ship, etc. along with the total OBC you have left.  (if you started with any)

I usually check each night before I go to bed - and count up the drink orders.  You'd be surprised how fast they add up.  lol

Thanks @paross4 @cruiseguy1016 for the quick responses.  I think knowing that will make it a more enjoyable experience as I won't have to keep track.  I really want to try to not force the use of the drink package so we know what we would normally do.  Obviously, we are going to try things we would normally not try and get drinks because we know they are included.  Just going to try to not be obligated to make certain goal.  If we lose money this time, so be it...we'll know for next time.  If not, great.

Truth!  Unfortunately it then seems to turn into some sort of demented contest for us!  Can we 'outscore' the previous day.....

Each time you "purchase" a drink, it will show up in your folio with the name of the bar and $0.00.

It won't show up though on the folio you get sent after you disembark, so I would suggest, if you just want a general idea, is to jot down the total each evening 🙂  I was curious too and went back to our last cruise to see if it was on the final accounting that was emailed but it wasn't.

One thing to take into consideration is sometimes multiple drinks don’t all get rung up. If you sit in bar for a while they know you have package and don’t always hit the Register especially if there busy

Good point.  That makes total sense.  If they get busy, why do that when they know that we have the package.

Wow, I thought the $0.00 drinks were on my final bill so I too went back and checked for my cruise 2 weeks ago. You're right, they weren't there.

Even if you don't have the package, if you treat your servers well, sometimes they "forget" to charge you for a drink.

A number of years ago, a TA with a good, reputable agency specializing in cruises, somehow made a mess of our booking, which included a free beverage package for DW and I under Celebrity's 123Go promotion. I wasn't very happy to be told this when checking in at the terminal, and kept all of our receipts for purchases that would have been covered by the package. After the cruise, I submitted the receipts to the agency and requested payment in the full amount. They paid promptly.

The interesting thing was that after totalling up the cost of the drinks, I realized that we had paid less than had we paid for the drink packages. Now, this was on Celebrity 9 years ago, so different lines and different times, and I don't know if the same would hold true for us today on an RCI cruise. I hope that the OP comes back after the cruise to let us know the results of his tracking.

@Fouremco I don't know if it would really mean anything to anyone else if I gave my results but I'm happy to do so.  (If I can remember - sailing is May 28th if anyone reads this after and wants to remind me 🙂 ).

How much you drink is so personal which is why these drink package threads often break down into fights.  😜

At the risk of this thread devolving into that situation, I'll say what I did do so far.  I put together a spreadsheet together where I guessed how much we'd use the package by breaking down each day keeping in mind that we'd likely not use it nearly as much on port days.  I had two scenarios.  The first was a slightly conservative guess on what'd we drink and another less conservative.  The more conservative one came out to be almost exactly what we paid and the less conservative came out ahead by a couple hundred.

I figured this would be the case but was interesting to see it come out that way.  I'm sure what we actually do will vary from my guesses though as we've never had the drink package before.  I figure it may even out with us drinking when I didn't think we would and not drinking when I thought we would.

Honestly, I'm thinking my wife may get our money's worth getting bottled waters as she drink them a ton.

Keep in mind that any sodas or bottles of water won't get "rung" up (at least how it was last week on Oasis), just alcohol drinks as $0-I never had any specialty coffees so I'm not sure about those.

You can see all the charges on your state room tv also.  On my last cruise, I took a picture of each page to see how much I got.  There's also a number from 1 and up next to each place so you can look at that too.  Be careful because it might make you sad knowing how much you drank like I did.  I had 130 charges for 8 days.  There was a Johnny R charge and a couple waters they actually rang up, otherwise it was all mixed drinks and beers.  It would be great if they had the time you ordered them.  If you are a moderate drinker, you'll break even.

  • 9 months later...

Ironically, I was doing a google search for something else for another cruise we have in March and this thread came back up.

I figured I'd give my results.  I don't have the exact numbers.  I kept them for the first couple days but then realized that it wouldn't be necessary.

We paid $72.99/day for our drink package and we easily seemed to get our money's worth.  Just having a couple drinks at dinner and then a couple more at the casino got us more than half way there.  Then being able to get shakes, frappuccinos, soda at lunch, the many waters for the family and a drink or two by the pool put us well over the amount we paid.

As everyone always says it will depend on how much you like to drink.  Even with the drinks listed above we weren't sloshed or anything and it was fun not caring about getting drinks when you want.  We had waiters in the casino making us special drinks and were able to try drinks we never had before w/o regret.  So for us it was well worth the money.  Gonna be hard to not get the drink package going forward.
