Carnival vs Princess - which offers are better

We started off cruising with Celebrity - but after doing 7 with them and doing Europe with them, we decided to stay in the USA area, and switched to Princess.  Once we started getting the free cabins, free play, slot tournaments offers we were hooked.

2022 was a big cruise year - we went on five cruises and the offers were great.

2023 we had one cruise in January (slot tournament) and leave next month for another cruise (slot tournament) and one in July (slot VIP)

Most of the emails that we are receiving (and flyers) and not as good as in the past

past was free balcony, free casino play, princess plus - now free inside, free casino play and no princess plus

From reading some of the posts, Carnival casino players say that Carnival is better with their offers.

For those of you who cruise Carnival and Princess can you give me the pros and cons

We are in the LA port area and do not want to travel by air to get to ports to cruise.  We are not cruising for the ports, we go for the relaxation, gambling and "get away" for a week or two.

thank you for response

I think another consideration to put in is the price market for each cruise line. I have better offer from Holland, but I find Princess has better food options - the 24hr International Café and the ability to schedule dining far ahead of the cruise meant we never have to wait too long for food. Having said that, Holland seemed to have bigger room - but then I've only been in Koningsdam so what do I know 😅

I would suggest trying San Diego port too. It's incredibly easy to get to from LA, take the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner from downtown, then you can practically walk from the San Diego (Santa Fe Depot) train station to the port.

Hello!

We cruise both Carnival and Princess and I will say the Carnival casino deals are WAY BETTER!  I'm not saying I like sailing Carnival better but sometimes I just can't pass up the great deal.  Each line is different and I enjoy both products for different reasons.  Carnival is more fun, more casual and tends to be younger.  Princess is more relaxing and tends to attract an older crowd with less families.

Casino deal wise, Carnival gives us Suites, $1000 each and free drinks.  I've also hit more jackpots on Carnival.  Princess gives us a balcony and $400.  We had to pay $840 to add Plus so Carnival wins!  We have cruises booked on both to change it up!  🙂

Have fun either way!
