KaDarr Posted March 25, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2023 How does it work when one takes an excursion on a day that the ship will be docked overnight as far as staying with the cruise tour and getting back to the ship? Specifically, if we were to take the London Tower tour, could we do the tour and break off on our own and make it back to the ship on our own? What time must you be back on the ship? I'm trying to make the absolute most of our time in London. We did get the two day post cruise extension but there is just so much I want to see. Jim Avery Posted March 25, 2023 #3 Share Posted March 25, 2023 Just be sure to let the tour guide and Viking person if there is one that you are leaving the tour. Otherwise they waste everyone's time looking for you.

Returning onboard times may depend on where the ship is docked/moored. At Tilbury, you are alongside, so should have continuous access to the ship. If moored at Greenwich, the ship is secured to buoys in the river, adjacent to the Cutty Sark. Viking use local transportation between the ship and quay, not the ship's tenders. Therefore, Viking are dependent on local resource to provide 24 hr access to the ship. Since local resources are not always available these days, I wouldn't guarantee you will have continuous access, as per previous cruise. Before finalising plans, I suggest checking the Viking daily for the shore accessibility hours and frequency.
