I see that you can pre-purchase expense and drink debit cards. Are these interchangeable? I.e. Can you use drink card for non-drink expenses and vice versa?

I assume cards will be in stateroom when boarding?

Is there an easy way to check balance without standing in line at guest services?

Can it be used for cash in say the casino?

I assume you are referring to cruise cash and bar cash?

They aren't debit cards.  They are applied electronically to your account as on board credit, and you will be able to see that they are on your account.  When you spend money on the ship (everything is paid for with your sail and sign card, which is also your room key), it will deduct from your on board credit before your selected method of payment.

You can use cruise cash for anything.

You can use bar cash only at the bar, not for anything else.

Edited to add: bar cash can be used at the coffee shop too, I think.

Never add a debit card to your sail account. Use a credit card, cash account, gift cards (discounted on AARP), or cruise cash. If you use a debit you will get holds and then get charged the full amount at the end of the cruise and will have to wait for the bank to release the holds..so essentially it will be double from your account until the holds lift.

Download the Carnival Hub App before you board. Once on the ship login, put phone on airplane mode, and connect to the ship wifi. You can view your account balance as well as a breakdown of where each purchase was made and for how much.

If you are going to purchase any type of cruise cash and want to use it anywhere on the ship, get “cruise cash.”  As stated above, cruise cash bar can only be used in the bar and cruise cash photos can only be used to purchase photos.

I always get cruise cash before my trip as I don’t like to have any balance on my account at the end of the ship.  Yes, it is use it or lose it, but there are ways around that.

in addition to checking your balance on the app, you can also check it at the kiosks located throughout the ship.
