Casino question

I just signed up for my first cruise on Celebrity with UrComped. I know on Princess I just used my medallion in the casino which was linked to my credit card on file and that is how I gambled (in lieu of bringing cash on board. 

So I am wondering if this is the case on Celebrity? I don’t want to not bring cash if I need it but would not if possible.

You can get cash at the casino against your cabin account but you incur a fee (5%?) to do this unless you are in a high enough tier with the Blue Chip Club (Celebrity's frequent gambler club). 

 

An alternate (fee-less) way is to open a line of credit with the casino which allows them to pull money directly out of your specified bank account (link to the credit application).

We put the money on our cabin account back in Oct. and there was no fee. We are not members of the Blue Chip Club.

Interesting.  Does this happen routinely for you?

 

For me, the instances where I have asked the pit boss at the blackjack table to take out cash against my cabin, there is a fee imposed--I think it is 5% (used to be 2% and before that it was 0% but that was a long time ago).  So the dealer will give me--say--$300 in chips and the pit boss will hand me a piece of paper to sign indicating that $315 is being charged to my onboard account.

We did it on a slot machine. The first time, we actually gambled. The second time, we needed cash so we added $20 to our account, pulled the lever once and cashed out. Since, I won ($.25) on the pull, I got my $20 back and cashed in.

I don't play the slots so I have no experience with this.

My wife plays the slots, so maybe I will ask her for my casino allowance during our next cruise.  Oops, that's a Galapagos cruise--so on the next next cruise.

Yes as an "invited guest" you get the fee waived. Make sure you use a credit card that earns 3X points for travel purchases such as Amex Green or Chase CSR.

You don't pay a fee if you are using onboard credit.  Not sure if you are just charging to your account.

While gambling in the casino , if you access money from your onboard account, there is no fee if you are on slots.  If you are on a table game , there is a fee unless you are comped or have a blue chip status high enough to exempt you from the fee.   And for the poster who said they are not a member of the Blue Chip Club,-  if you tapped or inserted your seapass card into the slot machine( which you would have to get cash from your account) then you are automatically enrolled in the Blue Chip Club.

To piggy back, even if you don’t plan on gambling much you can and should pull the max of $5k/day at least once for the credit card points.  Also the Citi Costco card has no annual fee and offers 3% back on travel and dining
