Here we are. It is finally time. We are in the final countdown. In 6 short days I will be boarding a flight for my short awaited sailing on Oasis of the Seas. We will be doing two legs on Oasis, a western and eastern Caribbean. We will be covering a few cruising scenarios….

week 1

We will experience the western Caribbean with ports of call to Roatan, Cozumel, Costa Maya, and CocoCay.  On this leg I will be traveling with me, myself, and I a fabulous group if I do say so myself. We all have the drink package so plenty of drink porn. This week we will be eating meals in the MDR (if I can straighten out the reservation) or windjammer if I can’t. We also have some fabulous excursions planned for this week. These include the Beach Club at CocoCay (no it isn’t worth the money), some ATV action in Cozumel, and a little snorkel and beach in Roatan. I don’t have anything planned in Costa Maya. Will likely just stay on the ship. I will have an ocean view balcony on deck 7.

week 2

We will have ports at Labadee, CocoCay, st Thomas, and San Juan. On this leg my son will be joining me in my cabin. He is the adult version of offspring. My mom and her husband will also be with joining us in an adjoining ocean view balcony. For this leg we will be on deck 10. I will have the drink package and dining package on this leg. My son is a bit of a foodie while on a cruise. He will be the only one of us on this trip without the deluxe beverage package. He opted for just the refreshment package as he is not a big drinker. Well my mom isn’t either but we can talk more about her choices later.

This will be my first solo cruise and B2B. We haven’t cruised since 2019. This included a side by side but now that seems like forever ago. So anyways we are all Diamond. Have cruised mostly on Royal but feeling a little rusty since Covid.

So take a deep breath… as an experienced cruiser I did a few things that you all will want to scold me for. I am flying in the day of cruise. Now before you get your panties all in a bunch it is a red eye. I will land (am scheduled to land) by 6 am day of cruise. It gets worse… we have a 10 am flight out of FLL to come home (gasp). I’ve heard all the arguments about this. Well we have a saying in our family… it is all part of the experience. 😅 In all seriousness at this point I’m just ready to be home and don’t want to spend the day in an airport. If it doesn’t work out we will get a hotel and fly home the next day.

This is my first live review and I anticipate that I will very much enjoy sharing my experience with the couple of folks that choose to follow. I will ask that if you don’t enjoy the review for whatever reason that you just move along. No need to let me know how much better you would do yours or how many other reviews exist. We are all in the sun now so let’s just have a good time.

More details coming….

This trip came to be in a backwards way. I first booked a Thanksgiving week trip with my partner (with a teenage son). I did this assuming my son at the least and maybe my mom would join us. I was promptly scolded about the scheduling issues of folks that work retail. So as my son is in retail it was a no go. Well I was like okay so that works for my partner I’ll just keep that one and book something else with my family. I’m thinking two cruises poor me.

A few weeks pass and although my mom and son have said they will pick a different day it is all crickets. This is back in Jan and the weather has been miserable. Have I mentioned I hate the cold? So a few weeks into this waiting game I decide I just can’t take the cold anymore. I get casino offers so I call them up and book for April 15th. I initially tried March but was told all that was left was interior rooms..no thanks. So I’m booked solo and dreaming about all the selfish ways I can behave. I booked my first class flights (it is just me so why the hell not?). I think I lived in this fantasy for about a week.

My son then decided this trip would work for him. He promptly convinced my mom that she must also book. I of course was super excited that they decided to join me. I mourned my solo trip for about a week. I then thought why not take 3 cruises this year? I can take my solo trip as planned but just a week earlier. So that is how we got here on this wonderful journey.

Thank you for joining me.

The hard part of this trip is leaving the love of my life. Two weeks without this guy doesn’t feel doable. I will be FaceTiming with this handsome fellow every chance I get. My complaints of missing him will hit an annoying level on week two. He is my everything.

A little about me. I’m somewhere at the top of the hill. No longer climbing but not limping down yet either. I have one adult son and am close to my mamma (both to be featured in this review). We have a lot of cruises under our belts. We pretty much go with flow.

It is important to understand that I’m an addict. Now I’m sure you are thinking you know what this means but I doubt it. I’m addicted to everything. I do drink, smoke, gamble but those are just headline grabbers and not the root of my problem. I’m addicted to anything and everything that catches my fancy  and it phases in and out. Hence this review… as I’ve planned this trip I’ve become obsessed with blogs, vlogs, and all things cruising. Some obsessions are healthier than others but this is who I am.

I suffer from extreme anxiety and insomnia so you’ll see a lot of post in the middle of the night. This is part of what I’m looking forward to on the solo cruise portion. I don’t sleep normal hours so having a room to do what I want in any time will be nice.

That is all for tonight folks. 6 days on the countdown. 4 more days in the office. I can’t wait!!! Nothing left to do but enjoy the journey. ❤️🛳️

So I’ve read all the hype lately regarding Liquid I.V. I of course had to try this myself. I’ve been drinking one a day for a few weeks now. I do feel a little more hydrated. I’m not sure if it is just psychological but it does make me want to drink more water through out the day. I got the passion fruit flavor which I thought was fine. I think it is a little pricey. I bought the 16 packs off of Amazon and I think it was about $25 for 16 packets. I have noticed that for a good hour after I drink it I’m really cold. It is like a bone chill. I will stick with it through the cruise but not sure of after.

@Denversail Ré:Liquid IV-check the package ingredients.

There is a high amount of salt in that concoction.

That is probably why you feel that you need to drink more water during the day.

Keeping hydrated while you are drinking cocktails etc will, most likely, help to prevent hangover headaches and other issues.

Just sayin’.😉

Looking forward to your review. I'm from Colorado too and will be on the 4/16 sailing! Have not been on Oasis since it first sailed but looks like the amplification is really nice. I also will binge the web for cruise research! Cheers!

I’m so excited. Just one more day of work. I will then have two days to show off my packing skills and then it is flight time.

Seriously my only packing skill is overpacking. Don’t you worry though I’m gonna show you all how it’s done. 😎

Like you, I’m very skilled at over packing! We drive to port so our oversized suitcases haven’t been a problem so far. That said, for our next cruise I’m planning to scale things down at leas a little bit so our luggage will be a bit easier to handle. We’ll see how that goes…..

So I hinted at my mamma’s choices previously. She is not a big drinker by a long shot. I might have mentioned to her how on the Bella cruise they did something you might call a drink scavenger hunt. So she has now bought an unnecessary drink package at a ridiculous price all so she can try all these drinks. She now expects a list of drinks from me that she should try. Given I’m a few days out I’m hoping @seadog or @John&LaLa can help a girl out?

Following along ~ have a wonderful time!

I will be leaving a little fur baby at home in a few weeks also.  I have had a stray cat, who still insists on living outdoors, adopt me a few years ago and he has become very attached to me.  Luckily I have fantastic neighbors who feed him and give him a lot of f attention while I am away.

Thank you both! I assume it can’t be attached here? I thought I recalled someone saying John’s email was in his extended signature but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to see that. Is it best just to put my email here in extended form? I don’t want to break any rules. I feel like I’m back in grade school when I get those warnings.

We are officially on vacation. I wrapped up work a couple hours ago and will do my best not to think about any of that until April 25th when I go back. Just a few bills to pay, a visit to the nail salon, and some travel sized essentials that I want to pick up from Target. Nothing left to do after that but show off my packing skills. Then it will be wheels up. The weather is looking like it will be cooperating.

Having my first vacation drink to get this party started.

I will be on Oasis for the April 23 and April 30 sailings B2B. Will be looking forward to hearing what time you get to FLL afterwards as we have a 10:55 flight home.

I’m more than happy to do a test run for you. I will be reporting my success or failure in detail. It is a risk but I think small. At the same time I’m someone that doesn’t really care. I’ll just schedule a flight out the next day and get a hotel. Extra day in sunny Florida in the end is just a happy mistake. 😁
