Is the pool covered for Alaska cruises?

For ships that go to Alaska that have a retractable roof over the pool, will they close it if the weather is cold in Alaska?  I am thinking end of June...it's still cold to me 🙂

It takes only about 6 minutes to go from fully closed to fully open. Often, you may not even be aware  that the cover is moving, save for a “beep.”

It is typically closed. And creates a wonderful, toasty sun room for viewing.

 

Instead of passengers typically facing the pool, what you now see are their backs as now everyone is watching the outside view.

Hot tubs will be open.

On a warm Vancouver departure day I have seen the cover open and people in both the Lido and aft pools. Occasionally it gets above 80°F (27°C) in Alaska so I'll bet the Lido dome is open then too!

I have a favorite photo from our visit to Kodiak looking up at the mountain through the open retractable roof. It may be open on a beautiful sunny day in port,  otherwise it will be closed.
