barcrab Posted April 8, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2023 We are trying to figure out if we can make an 11:15 am flight after getting off a cruise ship at port. Ship docks at 7 am. How difficult is it getting through security at Keflavik airport? Can you make a flight if you get to airport 2.5 hours ahead?

The airport isn’t huge and, IMO, well run and easy to navigate. If you are flying Icelandair Saga Class, the lounge is a good place to relax before the flight. edinburgher Posted April 9, 2023 #3 Share Posted April 9, 2023 Transfer time from the port to the airport will be around 45 or 50 minutes but you may want to double check that online. We had booked a taxi to pick up at the port but it didn't turn up at the agreed time so ship staff arranged another but that caused a delay.. We did get there on time, but later than we had expected and it was all a bit rushed (and expensive!). I agree that the airport was small and well organised. Heartgrove Posted April 12, 2023 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2023 We flew in and out of Keflavik in July 2021. It was while Iceland was opening up again after COVID and it seemed everyone made it a destination. Very crowded arriving and especially leaving. The check-in line was at least 45 minutes and wound back and forth about five times. Passport control was a bit better but not by much.
Nitemare Posted April 12, 2023 #5 Share Posted April 12, 2023 Just make sure you DON'T go to the Reykjavik city airport! Keflavik is a 45 minute ride out of the city, to the SW of Reykjavik. It is small but very well organized. Check in lines can take 90 minutes or more at busy time periods so don't let the size or good organization make you think you can show up 2 hours ahead of your flight and board with ease!
