Visionary river cruise line executive Rudi Schreiner was born at the heart of the Danube River in Vienna, Austria. His study of architectural design converged with a passion for traveling the world, and he became a leader in transforming modern river cruising, pioneering new itineraries made possible by the 1992 opening of the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal and earning the title of the “Godfather of River Cruising”. 

 

Among his many honors, he has been recognized as the “Most Innovative Cruise Executive” and awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award by Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA). In 2019, alongside AmaWaterways’ Co-Founder Kristin Karst, Schreiner was also honored with an AFAR Travel Vanguard award for his visionary leadership in turning travel into a force of good in the world.
