Any suggestions for excursions from you who have taken this route? We are booked for July and as this is a port intensive itinerary want to make good choices without exhausing ourselves! ( We can't afford to do the private car options) Any ideas?

Red October in St. Petersburg. Two very full days and an (optional) evening. Well worth exhausting yourself for. It costs more than the HAL tours, but I saw everything that was on every single HAL excursion. We went directly to the front of some very long lines. They get the visa for you, too!

For the rest of your itinerary I would suggest alternating full-day and half-day tours to get as much as you can out of the trip, while still preserving an ounce of energy. But just an ounce. This is a great cruise.

Head over to the Baltic ports section of the Ports of Call boards - there's lots and lots of good ideas.
