Breakaway Gibraltar debacle

Recommended Posts

Ncl loaded over 200 to Gibraltar from Malaga. All turned away at border. Pulled us all into Spiegel Tent but not yet 20230501_175530.thumb.jpg.a3241e19701034148738e2ac3c4fd70f.jpg refunds. Diabetics and handicapped travlers left without food or for hours. This was a  repeat from last weeks cruise. No refunds or credits offered yet. NCL DO BETTER.

Sorry my internet access is limited due to being on ship. All tours to  Gibraltar from Malaga were denied entrance. We were herded like cattle without proper communication. Some got in for about one hour. No one was able to get to summit, see apes or visit caves. The complaint line crossed the atrium.

According to some members of our cruise. Another NCL cruise had this same issue earler this month.  Malaga is not a regular port for them except on Transatlantic cruises.

Whilst not regular as such, NCL have been going to Malaga for years. I’ve been there twice when on Canary Isles cruises from Barcelona.

Lots of itineraries do seem to be going to Gibraltar itself these days though.

Did everyone bring their passports with them when going to Gibraltar on a tour? When we did the excursion back in 2016, we had to bring passports and walk thru the Customs & Border building from Spain into Gibraltar.

Now Gibraltar is non-EU .....

The OP has given no indication of the source of the problem.  If the Gibraltar passport control raised issues or was understaffed or not prepared to deal with the buses, then that is not NCL's fault.  As for the delays, of course there are going to be delays when going that distance and the end result is an unexpected turn of events.  I can't fault NCL for that either.  What actually happened at the border that caused this issue?
