Changing a casino rate booking

I'm cruising solo under a casino rate. As solo I needed to pay for double occupancy - fine as a 100 pp. My daughter has now asked to come with me. When I called carnival to add her to the existing booking the person on the phone was unable to do without changing my rate code and making cost go up quite considerably. I was transferred to the casino and the person I spoke to said no, nothing they can do.

Does this sound familiar or correct to anyone or should I try and call back and hope someone more helpful answers?

If you booked single, then yes that sounds accurate. That is a cancel and rebook, and if your rate is no longer available you will pay the now current rates.

In the future you could book the second person in your cabin as a TBA. Just leave the name as TBA. You can go in and change the name later at no charge.

Ah that's a shame but thank you

Do you have a PVP? I recently booked as a solo and asked what would happen if I added someone to the room. I was told that I locked in the price, and since I was already paying the port fees for 2 people, they would just add the $100 for the second person. (Casino offer as well.) I asked how quickly this needs to be decided and she said until I pay the final bill. Mine doesn't have a TBA on it...

If you have a PVP try calling them. I have had much better service and answers with my PVP than any rep on the 800#. I hope you are able to get her added. 🤞

Something doesn’t sound right to me. If it’s a 2 person cabin and you paid fees for 2 people you should be able to add another guest in the cabin. I’ve done it before myself and yes it was a casino deal. Unless maybe you got a solo cabin and the extra fees were just the solo fees. You definitely need the help of a good pvp because this doesn’t make sense.

Thanks all.

Unfortunately I do not have a PVP. Someone offered to be one for me last year - great, had never used previously but thought could be useful. He helped me book a cruise, I called him back next day, left three messages and hasn't called me back for ooh, would be 8 months now 😂.

I don't think being in the UK would change anything. Carnival no longer has their UK site so assume I sign general T&C's.

I agree, I've effectively paid for the second pax so why cannot not make that a reality? Not a solo cabin at all. I've got a king bed as my preference. I also thought Carnival didn't 'do' single cabins as like other lines.

I think I'll try again on the weekend and cross my fingers I find someone who can put in a little effort. If not I may politely raise a complaint.

It is possible the ship has reached lifeboat capacity or your muster station is full.

I dont think that is the case since they offered to let them add a person for a higher fee.
