Hotels in Rio

Has anyone tried to book hotels in Rio for pre or post cruise stays. The two hotels recommended by SeaDream (Copacabana Palace and the Caesar Park Ipanema) are either sold out or not booking yet. We will be there the week after New Years which is a big deal in Rio so maybe they really are sold out already. :-( Or maybe it's just that they aren't booking 2007 yet. Does anyone know which?

I stayed at the Sheraton Rio Hotel and Towers and I liked it a lot !!! it is not on the beach in Copacabana but in Leblon. I got a shuttle into town

and took a Grayline tour with some fellow CC'ers and had a really great time !!:D Just a suggestion.
