Koningsdam Alaska cruise - formal night?

Hi we are doing the above cruise in a few weeks time , it’s been a long time since we did any cruises and our first time with HA ad this part of the world so forgive me if some of the questions are pretty basic but can’t find a lot of the info we need on the Navigator ap.

1.  Can anyone tell us which nights are the formal wear please? I know there are 2 on a 7 day cruise and that they aren’t as formal as they used to be but would be useful to know when they are.

2. Looking at booking some excursions and are on a waiting list for the White Pass train ride in Skagway but if we don’t get on how easy would it be to book it independently?  Does it make sense to do our own thing with excursions in any other ports?
3.I think I read on somewhere that there is a deal for laundry on the ship, can anyone elaborate please?  Given that we will have been travelling for 8 days by the time we board knowing the best deal would be very helpful.

Any other tips or pointers for us to get the best out of our trip are most welcome.

Thanks.

Some reading around the board would be VERY beneficial.

HAL doesn't have "formal" nights anymore. They are now called "dressy". There will typically be 2, and they are commonly held on sea days, or second choice, on days when the ship leaves port before 4pm. They are commonly held the second night of the cruise, and most likely the second to last night.
