OBC question

We can use OBC before boarding to buy excursions or specialty dining with Celebrity. However, today I was told by an MSC customer service rep that I have to wait until I get onboard to use it.  Does MSC make you wait until onboard to use it?

Yes, onboard credits can only be used on your onboard account. Things purchased in advance of the cruise have to be paid for when you purchase them.

Yes, can only be used after you get onboard.

MSC does allow OBC to be applied to Daily Service Charge, which is helpful. We also use it to offset room charges in the casino.

I had only ever sailed NCL prior to COVID and they never let you use OBC when booking things ahead of time. Then I sailed Celebrity a bunch and Princess once after the restart and got spoiled by being able to pre-purchase things with OBC. Now I am sailing MSC and back to not being able to use OBC ahead of time and it makes me sad. However, since you can't pre-pay your DSC with MSC and can't pre-spend your OBC, I have just ended up using my OBC to pay my DSC.
