cands Posted March 18, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 18, 2006 Well, We are three days into the games and all is going well here in Melbourne. The city is abuzz with all the activity. The traffic is not too bad if you don't go right into the city. Diamond Princess will be here for the day on 19th and 23rd March. Those visitors should see Melbourne at it's best. Chris and I went to the Men's Team Gymnastics. Canada won gold, Australia silver:

David, I looked at the maps of road closures etc for the Marathon, and yes, it may be a bit tricky for some visitors. Lets hope Princess has fully informed passengers of this, so they know what to expect. It would be good to hear what people on board did for the day when they get home. Maybe Princess offered shuttles to Marathon viewing points? Steve

Aussie Gal Posted March 29, 2006 #8 Share Posted March 29, 2006 Dave, Just saw your posting today. I was hardly on the computer whilst the Games were on. We went to the Opening Ceremony, the Rugby 7's - saw New Zealand play - Gymnastics, the Swimming on the Sunday that the Marathon was on, then last week we went to the Weightlifting and Hockey and on Sunday we saw the final of the Rythmic Gymnastics. Melbourne was abuzz and our weather was incredible. We were in the city most days and there was so much on as we also had the Melbourne Festival with lots of various activities and acts. The children were on school holidays so it was like one big holiday. The transport was free and we took advantage of that to get to all the Venues. We are so lucky that most of the Venues are close to the heart of the city. We are now having withdrawal symptoms and life is getting back to normal.
