Royal caribbean Amex platinum cruise privileges

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Does anyone have any info on the Amex platinum cruise privileges?

if I book a cruise with an Amex platinum card, it seems like cruises of 5 nights or more can get up to $300 in extra obc and sometimes other perks such as a speciality dinner.

-How do I find a travel agent who is able to apply this?  From what I read, some travel agency’s can honor this and not just Amex travel

-Are there any restrictions such as Royal caribbean sale rates or onboard credits and/or travel agency special sale rates and or onboard credits?

-Does anyone know what obc offer is for Royal caribbean for balcony rooms on sailings of 5 nights or more?  Does it also come with a speciality dinner or anything else?

Thanks!

Pretty sure you have to use AMEX Travel and they will control the booking just like any travel agency.

I book with my Platinum as a backup for travel insurance and points but I always book direct. Just easier for me to be in control and take advantage of price drops myself.

I believe there are multiple (not just Amex Travel) that can apply the credit, but it unfortunately does not apply to some of the deep discounted rates and group rates.

I was able to apply it on a sailing earlier this year and I believe I received $200 obc for a balcony and a bottle of descent bubbly.

Does anyone know what the Amex benefit is for Royal Caribbean is for 5-7 night sailings in 1) an oceanview stateroom or 2) a balcony stateroom?  I don’t see the amounts listed on the Amex website.

I am trying to future out if this would be a $200, $250 or $300 obc per cabin.

Also if any agent has group cabins/pricing, is it possible that Amex platinum benefits can be added onto an agents pricing?

Thanks!

$300 OBC is for junior suites and above on a 7 night sailing.

I have my next 3 cruises booked with them. One as early as next week in the Fjord's.

1.Call AMEX directly, they will connect you with a Cruise specialist (unless you already have a TA who participates with AMEX) You can transfer your booking to them if within 30 days.

2.I have a GTD Balcony and received $200 OBC for RCL sailing from AMEX ( suites get the $300 their fine print does not mention length of cruise needed, but if i remember my TA mentioned 7+ but i could be wrong) .

https://www.americanexpress.com/en-us/travel/cruises-and-custom-vacations/benefits

Each Cruise company have different perks
(NCL is giving us dinner at French restaurant and a bottle of Champagne and $200 OBC)
(RCL we are getting bottle of champagne only and OBC of $200)

3.NO. I booked with RCL while on board to get the RCL $200 OBC, I than transferred to my AMEX TA and received the additional $200 OBC. I also applied for the $100 OBC since I am also a share holder. So in total for that cruise I received $500 in OBC.

4.Best part is the 2X points for booking cruise with AMEX. You will get 1X after final payment, once you sail you will receive 1X balance of membership points (as per their cruise privilege's program).

I just booked a cruise with an agent we found on the cruise compete website (we usually book direct) & they mentioned addiotnal perks if paying with Amex Platinum. I was able to get the Amex $300 shipboard credit plus the Travel Agent bonus credit as well as a "Bottle of Wine/Champagne if paying with an Amex Platinum" I was happily surprised & now know to ask when I shop around !

Just FYI:  We sailed on the Radiance in March and got the $200 OBC, but didn't get the champagne. I even asked about it and the people in Guest Services acted like they had never heard of such a thing. Since I've gotten it before -- on the Radiance -- I don't know where the disconnect happened. I didn't mind that much as we did get the OBC.  We're sailing on NCL in September and we should get the dinner at Le Bistro in addition to OBC, so we'll see.

Also -- I'm on the upcoming Royal Caribbean world cruise.  Wonder if AmEx will give OBC for all 17 of the mini legs on that voyage.  🙂

The extra other than obc is destination family.  It's johnny rockets for four and kids soda package up to 4 kids.

If no johnny rockets than bottle of champagne.

The obc is 100 for inside and Oceanview, 200 for balcony and 300 for anything higher.

The obc is tricky, not combinable with several things including a group rate.
