for Lima, Peru

Hi.  Need some help.

My husband and I are flying into Lima, Peru, the night before boarding our cruise ship.  Since our flight arrives late, we plan to stay overnight at the Wyndham Costa del Sol at the airport, and go to the ship the next day.  My understanding is that the ship will be docked in Callao, at what is really a cargo ship port, and that there is some difficulty with having taxis, etc. be able to drop passengers off at the ship itself, rather than at the entrance to the port.

Can anyone recommend a car service that would be able to pick us up at the hotel and drive us to the ship at the port?  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for this.  Were they able to take you literally to the ship itself and not simply to the port entrance?

They took us to the port entrance, where Azamara had a shuttle bus waiting. The Azamara people loaded our luggage into the bus and then took us (and other passengers) to the ship.

It was not possible for taxis or private vehicles to drive into the port.

Taxidatum will know where to go.

Thanks again.  I guess I'm just worried about this because my husband and I are in our mid-70s, and so dealing with luggage can be difficult for us.  That's why I usually like to arrange private transfers that take us right to where we need to go, and will also handle the luggage for us.  Plus I understand the area around the port is not the best.

I don't know which cruise line you are taking, but with Azamara we did not handle our luggage after the taxi picked us up. Once the taxi got to the port, the luggage was transferred to the shuttle bus by the Azamara people. Once the shuttle bus arrived at the ship, our luggage was brought onto the ship and delivered to our cabin. To reiterate, we didn't touch our luggage after we got into the taxi. Additionally, you should be able to get a Wyndham bellman to take your luggage to the taxi.

The area around both the airport and the ship port is a very unattractive industrial area. But you will have no contact with anyone except the taxi driver and the cruise ship employees/agents.

Thanks once again.  I truly appreciate your advice.  We are on Silversea.  I would hope that they would handle things similarly to your cruise line.  When things get closer to the cruise date I'll try to communicate with Silversea about it.
