Ferry from St Thomas to St John?

What is the easiest way to do this?    Is the Ferry near the port or do we need to taxi somewhere?  If we decide not to do the Ferry, is there a walkable beach/shopping that we could do instead?  We will be on the Royal next week, Wonder of the Seas.

thank you,

Jennifer

Jennifer,

First BON VOYAGE....

From past experience, the Ferry to St John's Cruz Bay departs from Red Hook the most Eastern part of St Thomas.

It's is about 29 minutes - 9 miles ride from the Central St Thomas and you will need to take a taxi to Red Hook. There the ferries cross over to Cruz Bay, St John.

But there is also Megan's Bay Beach still on St Thomas Island on the North Coast. Pls Google it.

Just did this last week.  Taxi to red hook. Ferry over to St John Cruz Bay.  Then taxi to Trunk Bay for us.  It was easy and loved every minute of it.  We took the 1 PM ferry back since our ship was leaving at 3:30 PM.  We had plenty of time.
